Kumar Shri Ranjitsinhji (10 September 1872–2 April 1933) was an Indian who played for the English cricket team

1873 First regulations restricting county qualifications, often regarded as the official start of the County Championship WG Grace becomes the first player to record 1,000 runs and 100 wickets in a season.

1877 First cricket Test match

First Test at MCG, played between two teams of eleven (March 15,16,17,19 1877). Australia won by 45 runs
1876-77: England in Australia (1-1)
1878   Edward Pooley completes record 8 stumpings in a cricket match
1879 Leicestershire County Cricket Club formed.

The Sydney Riot of 1879 was one of the earliest riots at an international cricket match. It was sparked by a controversial umpiring decision and some of the players were assaulted
1878-79: England in Australia: Australia won the series 1-0 Fred Spofforth, claimed the first hat trick in Test cricket
1880 English team played the first Test match against Australia in England (1880)


W G Grace played Test cricket against Australia in the 1880s, but he was already past his peak at that stage
