1941   Pearl Harbor Birth of Kim Jong-il, Leader of North Korea. Kim Jong-il is the leader of Democratic People's Republic of Korea, a position he has held since 1994. Officially he is the Chairman of the National Defense Commission of North Korea, Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army, and General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea    
1942   José Eduardo dos Santos (born August 28, 1942 in Sao Tome e Principe) is the current President, Head of Government, and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Angola and Emperor of Angola,   Rocket Launcher, M1A1 "Bazooka"

U.S. Manhattan Project begins in order to develop the first atomic bomb. The anti-tank rocket, or bazooka, is invented. Before the bazooka, only anti-tank grenades or "elephant guns" would damage well-armored tanks but even these performed poorly. Aircraft carriers become the major offensive arm of the Navy.
1943     First use of air-launched, radio command guided anti-ship missiles.
1944   Slovakian Uprising (1944 - 1945)   First V-1 flying bomb used by Germany against the U.K. V-2 rockets are used by Germany. First German military jet, the Messerschmidt, is used in battle.
1945   Venezuelan Revolt

1946   Bombing of King David Hotel, the British Military HQ in Jerusalem, by the Zionist group Irgun, with 91 deaths - a mix of military and civilian (July 22) Bolivian Revolt
